432 Hz Piano & Winds I
Matt Parker opens a new chapter: a spacious, acoustic meditation for piano, bass clarinet, clarinet, and flute, tuned to 432 Hz.
Music Meant to Breathe
Composer, producer, and woodwind artist Matt Parker releases 432 Hz Piano & Winds I, a peaceful instrumental for acoustic piano, bass clarinet, clarinet, and flute. Tuned to 432 Hz, the piece unfolds slowly, opening an intimate sound world for reflection, deep listening, and quiet focus. It is the first release in a new ambient series from Parker and BYNK Records.
The music holds a sense of distance, breath, and suspended time. Piano ostinatos turn slowly beneath the surface while the woodwinds move through them like air, light, or a memory passing over open water.
“Before a concert, musicians all tune to one note so everyone agrees where the music sits. For centuries, how high that note was changed from city to city. The world only settled on one standard, 440, in 1939. For this series I tune a touch lower, to 432: same melodies, same harmonies, everything just sits a little lower, warmer and softer.”
Matt Parker432 Hz Piano & Winds I widens the BYNK catalog, extending the label's work in jazz, archival recordings, and artist-led projects into a more meditative and cinematic space. The track lives equally well in headphones, in quiet rooms, on wellness and yoga playlists, and in moments of personal stillness.
For Parker, whose career has moved through jazz, film, improvisation, and independent music, the single stands alone and also opens a larger body of ambient music centered on acoustic resonance and meditative pacing. It reflects the core idea behind BYNK Records, Because You Never Know.
